DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA PCIP INFORMATION

PCIP District Of Columbia
There are approximately 60,000 uninsured and just aver 300,000 insured. This means about 15% of the residents in the District of Columbia are uninsured. The “District” or D.C. was founded on July 16, 1790 and has a population of almost 600,000 people, and is run by current mayor Vincent C Gray.

Many of the uninsured’s come from Pre existing conditions that cannot be accepted by major medical carriers. Since the enactment of the new law for health reform or the affordable care act produced the state with an option that chose to go through the Federal government program managed by the HHS and NFC and GEHA.

Rates were recently reduced to make it affordable to get at the same premiums as private carriers might charge healthy individuals as seen below.
