About 24% of Idaho’s residents are uninsured, approximately 711,000 residents have insurance and over 170,000 are without insurance. Idaho, the Gem State, has a population of approximately 1.5 million residents. The governor of Idaho is C.L. “Butch” Otter who is in office and was at time of the release of the new state health insurance plan for people with pre-existing conditions.
This new plan run by the Federal PCIP plan goes through GHEA ( Governement Employees Health Association) and administered by the Health and Human Services and National Finance Center. Those that are looking for a guaranteed health insurance plan can pay rates that are enjoyed by healthy individuals. The Plan is quite comprehensive and covers the Pre-existing conditions from day one for some of the major pre existing conditions like cancer or heart diseases and diabetes.
