here are about 1.9 million insured residents and over 630,000 uninsured residents with the percentage of uninsured being about 26%.The Bayou State is governed by Mary Landrieu. The population of Louisiana is just under 4.5 million residents. The numbers lend to the new project stemming from the Affordable care act the government and President Barak Obama signed into law in 2010.
Since then the state of Louisiana has chosen the pcip plan through the Government which carries three (3) plans to choose from Standard, Extended and an HSA or Health Savings Account. The most popular health insurance plan coverage for individuals through mid year of 2011 has been the standard plan for most of the country for its affordability and still low deductible.
Rates have been put into place to provide residents the ease of having rates that healthy individuals pay so that having a pre-existing condition should not be an issue when it comes to obtaining affordable health insurance coverage and still get pre-existing conditions covered. Thus the enrollment has been growing and the application process simplified as can be seen from rates listed below:
