Texas has a high population and many without health insurance. They are one of the three states in the country with the highest amount uninsured.
The state of Texas has opted to have the pcip program run by the federal government via the Dept of Health and Human Services. The total funds dedicated to this program $493 million dollars and second highest amount of all states. While enrollments still below the expected amount as high as the thousands it is rapidly gaining applications, and processing can take a few weeks. A chart below shows the three pcip texas plans along with rates to choose prior to registering to apply.
